When constructing your fulfillment strategy, you want to make sure that your customers are at the center of it. By doing so, you will have a supply chain that results in higher customer satisfaction, and more return business.

If you haven’t created your fulfillment and logistical strategy yet, or if you feel that it needs to be updated, here are a few things you should keep in mind to become more customer-oriented.

Use inventory management software
Inventory management software (IMS) can help you track and organize all of the data related to your customers. This allows you to streamline your fulfillment, inventory and sales because everything can be run through a single platform. It makes it easy for businesses to have visibility and record of everything they ship, and who they ship it to. Even if you’ve been operating without one, most IMS can easily import data from other programs.

If you want to move to IMS, you’ll want to make certain you look at your different options to find the one that fits your needs and your budget. You’ll want to meet with several IMS vendors and then compare how their products fit your logistics strategy needs.

Consider third party logistics (3PL) outsourcing
The right 3PL can take on and manage some or all of your supply chain needs. From warehousing to fulfillment to distribution, the 3PL partner you select can help you avoid additional overhead and time, which will allow you to go out and grow your brand. The perfect 3PL is also flexible enough to customize the program to you and your customers needs.

Besides the extra time, there are some other benefits to using a 3PL company. In most cases, their systems will integrate with yours, and it’s easy for them to take over managing your inventory, optimize your shipping time and even handle warehouse distribution. There’s nothing extra you have to purchase or invest in, and you don’t have to worry about expanding your own workforce.

Of course, you do want to carefully evaluate these 3PL companies before deciding which one to work with. The right partner will also mention or make recommendations on areas of improvement.
