David Weakly has been a part of the King Solutions family for over a decade. A Bloomington, MN native, David is a major player on our business development team. Here’s what David has to say about his role with King and his life outside of the company.

1. Introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello my name is Dave Weakly and I live in the Anoka, MN. I have three kids, all in their 20’s. I started in this industry almost 30 years ago with Consolidated Freightways. I did move away to Cheyenne, WY for a few years, which is where my daughter was born.

2. What is your background that led you to working at King?
My background is less than truckload (LTL) operations. I spent four years at Consolidated Freightways and 16 years at Yellow Freight. I did get into sales in my later years with Yellow. King Solutions was one of my cold calls, and from the first day I walked into the King Solutions building I thought that this would be a great place, with an amazing culture, to work.

3. What does an average day look like for you?
My specific tasks differ from day to day, yet each day can be very similar. I engage with existing clients and work with our operations team to make sure we all understand each other. I work closely with new and existing clients to help with any supply chain issues.

4. What do you love about working at King?
I love the culture and the fact that I know King can help with just about any supply chain need.

5. What are your hobbies outside of work?
I really like working out and taking the kids on one of our annual fishing trips or getting that odd job around the house done.

6. What special talents do you have?
Not sure I have any special talents, but what I do know is that I’m pretty good at casting Muskie lures or finding my way through the woods!

7. Is there a person, in your industry or otherwise, that you wish you could shadow for a day? Who is it and why?
Mike Patterson, President of King Solutions. Mike’s passion and drive to help create solutions to any situation is second to none. I respect Mike, or as we call him MP, as much as anyone.

8. Where do you see the logistics industry as a whole in 5 years? 10 years?
I see the logistics industry continuing to evolve technologically and lead the way with its quality outweighing its price. I’m very interested to see if driverless trucks will take hold in the USA.
