God’s Providence and Chaplaincy at King Solutions Global

Our appreciation of God’s Providence is usually in retrospect. As we look back over the details of life’s circumstances, we can better understand how the personable and loving God Himself guided and provided for us. His Providence is evident in how workplace chaplaincy became an employee benefit at King Solutions Global.

Michael Patterson is the founder and former CEO of King Solutions. For several years, Mike was active in a local advisory group for Christian business leaders. In late 2013, a representative of Corporate Chaplains of America (CCA) introduced the concept of workplace chaplaincy to the group in which Mike participated. Mike’s faith, and his genuine concern for King employees, convinced him to bring chaplaincy to King Solutions.

Terry Stephens was not previously acquainted with Mike or King Solutions. However, he later learned that while Mike was considering chaplaincy for King, Terry was also applying to be a workplace chaplain. Terry became the first CCA chaplain in MN. King Solutions was the first company in MN to offer CCA’s services to employees.

In February of 2014, when introduced to the employees at King, Terry learned that the company headquarters are in the city of Dayton, MN. The location is significant, in light of God’s Providence, because Terry was born and raised in … Dayton, OH. Could this interesting fact about the two cities of Dayton only be coincidental? Though Mike and Terry lived in the same geographical area (the Twin Cities), their paths were not ordinarily likely to cross. However, as they individually and apart sought to faithfully follow Christ, God’s Providence, we believe, brought them together. This lifestyle of faith does not look for signs of confirmation from God – “we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Cor. 5:7). Still, the amazing details about the two cities of Dayton remind us of His providential guidance and care.
